Just Friends?

Can a male and female be just friends? I do think it's possible and often happens. When I was much younger some women would give me a ride to church or somewhere and some I just worked with. With some exceptions the ones I was most interested in would say something like "Let's not ruin our friendship by getting romantic." It usually angered me that they wanted to be just friends. Now wanting to get romantic and not be "just friends" is something I regret.

One of those women had several male friends and now I know a couple of more women who have more male friends than female friends. So my logic is this if a woman can have several male friends then why can't a male have several female friends? In other words, what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

I know a married man that says he has more female friends than male friends. My one (so far) female friend is someone I can talk to. I can help her by giving her a ride to places she wants to go.

Frankly, being able to help people like her and some of her other friends makes me glad. People have helped me most my life so I'm glad to be in a position to do a little bit to help others.

I still have a desire for marriage but some people want to be just friends. Jesus was never married. His bride is the church but while he walked this earth he did have female friends, Mary and Martha the sisters of Lazarus whom he raised from the dead and Mary Magdalene. Yes, there is some legitimate concern but sometimes it's worth the risk.
