Transportation

So I'm having transportation issues. I have a 1987 Plym. Reliant that I paid $700 for it over a year ago. I just had the brakes, including the rotors, fixed; I had a problem that was diagnosed as fuel pump, so that was changed; then yesterday it acted just like it did for the fuel pump, so the electronic ignition is being fixed. Bottom line the car is getting about $700 worth of work to it. Still cheaper than a newer car. The parts are cheaper, but have to be ordered from the warehouse. The insurance is basic minimum required from the State, not comprehensive. It's a good little 4 cyl. car.
I also have a 1978 GMC pickup that I paid $1000 for that I only put a couple or three thousand miles a year on, but it currently has the brake dashboard light on. I need to check the fluid to see if that's all it is. It's my auction vehicle. Gas mileage sucks. But again, cheap parts, insurance, and body bad enough that winter driving won't ruin the body.
The biggest problem with car maintenance is that the money I'm spending on the car was supposed to go to fix an old school building that I bought to live in. I borrowed some money to fix the building enough to move into; Basics like water, heat and electric. I hope to be in it by Spring. The longer I go without getting it done the more money gets spent on transportation and misc. expenses. I do dream big, don't I?
