I'm that woman

I'm that woman who is still a little girl.
Excited over the most minute detail
of this big old world.
A child on Christmas day thrill,
to come across a blue mushroom
or some bird's lost quill.
Stare in awe without remark
at mossy clumps,
and beautifully rotted bark.
I favor the ugly
that others may see,
its stunning and lovely
to someone like me.
Affinity for rodent and bat,
Unusual respect for catfish,
and such as that.
I notice the crumble on the brick
before I see the building it makes.
The flowering weed on the sidewalk,
surviving a million shoe quakes.
I might not look into your eyes
when we are face to face,
but I assure you I am present,
with soulful connection and embrace.
I am a simple person
with a complicated mind,
where the outside fails to show you
all the treasure inside you'll find.
