social vending

ok so for some weird reason I have gotten in the "find a some one to love" mode. maybe its because Valentines is so close. either way its odd for me because I have rarely made any effort to get to know any one with relationship in mind at all for a long time. friends are nice but most of the time they never turn into lovers. at best they turn into a person you have a secret crush on and that can turn out real bad. I have been there and its can mess you up in the head if you love your best friend but they only see you as just a friend.

so any way that all aside I went into super"find some one special mode" and joined like 5 diff dating sites lol. I did searches and emailed tons of girls but most of them either read and never reply or just plain never log in so they never see my email any ways. it makes me wonder... am I doing something wrong? or are online dating sites promoting extreme pickyness?

dating sites offer two things that the real world does not...
1 it offers freedom to speak your mind and let others know what your about with out seeming really weird... try doing that in public in real life some time :P it offers a safe environment for people to "feel each other out" before going on that first date.

2 the dark side of online dating is that members of the opposite sex (or same depending on your orientation) are treated like a vending machine. how many times have you stood in front of a vending machine trying to figure out what candy you want? how many candies do you automatically rule out due to a certain ingredient? online dating is like that; you use your search to find people that fits your criteria for the perfect companion and you usually go for the cutest you find first.

then you sit and wait and wonder why they never emailed you back; was it my hair? was it my choice of clothes? did I not have the right kind of body you want? did something I wrote in my email or profile offend you or you just didnt like it?

chat rooms are a good answer to those issues as you get a feel for who they are without making judgement. a friend once told me its not who you are that defines you, its what you do"... oh wait that was from Batman" :P
