"What car do you drive? What car would you like to purchase?"
by Thrasymachus,Mar/04/2019(These questions are less than inspired, but I've become addicted to doing this; I made need fixing, perhaps through daring deed of some other's inexplicable metacognitive abilities: who knows?) Right now I'm driving that black Ford F150 with the icicle mohawk (posted a couple pics of it), but I'm not sure how long its going to last - he has some rust issues and might not be worth repairing, and I've crashed him twice on the lake this winter alone, so, well, I'm probably going to be his last owner - maybe another year left.... I was looking at getting a Jeep Grand Cherokee, but the new one I like is out of my price range; those new Jeep Renegades are less, and they are kind of cute. My ultimate dream car is the 1973 Pantera (wouldn't kick an '86 or 2012 out of bed for leaking oil either), but WAY out of my price range and besides, I probably wouldn't live longer than about a week if I got one :twisted . In all likelihood I'll have to get a different vehicle within a year or two due to fall-apartness and it'll either be another 4WD pickup or a late 90's Jeep Cherokee. (Incidentally, whoever gets to be my dog is in for about as good of a life as a dog can have, but whatever has to be my car has a tough existence coming - funny that.)
I'm not really that materialistic and I'm not crazy about cars. I currently drive an old Hyundai Accent and it's a good little reliable car with about 135k on it. If you take care of cars properly with maintenance, they'll last awhile. As for a "dream" car, I always love those old Acura NSX's .. gorgeous cars. Also loved the Mazda RX-7 and the Lotus Elise S. However, in the end, I just want a reliable car and I prefer small cars despite being a big guy. I love to tear around in them and even like sliding around in the snow/ice when it's safe. lol .. At least I know that if I'm ever on the road and my car starts to slide out from under me, I'm pretty confident I could correct it and not crash due to all my "fun" sliding around on purpose all these years. :)
Sorry, that would be the Lotus Exige S.
I've had both a Datsun 240Z and a 260Z, had friends with RX7's, Triumph TR7's, Porsche 914's, Lancia Skorpions and Opal GT's; all of them were very worthy econo-sports cars (and not nearly as murderous as a Pantera). For years I've had a dream about starting a company to custom/restore such great and humble late 60's to early 70's marquees (and bitchin' 4WD's from the same period).
