Philosophical Sympathy vs. Empirical Faith
Since joining this website I have had numerous requests from absolutely wonderful and beautiful ladies, each asking if they could get to know me better. Each one of these ladies immediately referred to finding their; “true love’, “soul mate”, lover and ultimately their husband. Why me?
You see we have been matched, based on our personality profiles, life and love styles, dreams, goals, hobbies and interests etc. Plus we must have been physically appealing, (at least one hopes) to the other party.
What I have found however is that most of these enquiries did not match the criteria in My Ideal Partner information. In spite of clearly stating that I needed a Christian believer, each of these ladies explained that they were sympathetic to the Christian Philosophy, which brings me to the reason as to why I needed to write this blog.
As a practicing Christian I have made an informed choice to move from Philosophical sympathy (i.e. from simply agreeing with or approving of a set of values and principles to live by) to Empirical Faith. Empirical faith is experiential. I took a course of action. I believed the Gospel that told me that Jesus is the Son of God and I chose to be baptised in to the Christian faith which resulted in an undeniable experience.
This is what I did; prior to being baptised I was asked a series of questions
To which the reply is always "I renounce them":
Do you renounce Satan and all the spiritual forces of wickedness that rebel against God?
Do you renounce the evil powers of this world which corrupt and destroy the creatures of God?
Do you renounce all sinful desires that draw you from the love of God?
The second half of the query is asked, to which the reply is always "I do":
Do you turn to Jesus Christ and accept him as your Saviour?
Do you put your whole trust in his grace and love?
Do you promise to follow and obey him as your Lord?
Then we proclaim our statement of faith.
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
I was then baptised. I know that in that moment something supernatural had occurred within me. It was tangible yet esoteric at the same time. I know that God entered in to my physical being that day, God the Father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit. I have been in a personal relationship with Him from that time forward.
This is an undeniable truth in my life. I walk with Him and talk with Him throughout my day. He leads me, guides me, comforts, encourages and at times chastises me. He is my Father and my friend. Don’t worry; I’m still an ordinary, practical everyday bloke. My head is not off in the clouds. My feet are planted firmly on the ground. The difference is in my knowing Him, not just knowing of Him. I need a partner who has the same experiential relationship with our Father God as I do. The three of us together is the essential ingredient for a successful relationship.
I am flattered and honoured that ladies, you consider me worthy of your hopes and trust for a life partner. However to avoid disappointment or seeming rejection, please understand as I wrote in my introduction. I am looking for a Body, Soul & Spirit Mate, not just a soul mate. I sincerely wish for all of us that are searching for a life partner, every success and every good thing.
