I looked for you in Mexico, while I sat in a
narrow cafe, dunking a churro into chocolate so thick it reminded me of a cup of bittersweet pudding. Bittersweet not just in taste, but in actual fact -- because you weren't there to share it with me.....
Maybe it was you that brushed me by in New York's subway and I strained to see that slightest hint of your hair. Was that really you?....
And should you think these are tall tales, well, an ingredient might be missing, so best to move on.
It's not that my life isn't full. Between family and friends, my work and travel I live the best way I know how.
I'm happy in my life, especially caring for others, yet always others, rarely myself and oddly enough - that renders me content. Perhaps it is because I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.
And as to the rest, well, I just haven't figured it out yet.
