I’m an open-minded free thinker with a huge thirst for learning, embracing the moment and, as the Dalai Lama quote intimates, cultivating kindness and compassion. My sense of common humanity, the notion that everyone deserves to be treated with courtesy and respect, is a guiding ethic that I also credit to my Midwestern upbringing.
Day to day, I enjoy regular workouts, healthy eating and reading though my interests are wide-ranging and include hiking and just about anything else outdoors. I'm up for just about any activity as long as we're not risking life and limb. For the most part, I’d much rather participate than spectate, much rather do than observe. I do, however, enjoy restful, contemplative time and see it as essential to a balanced life. I like a healthy sense of humor and play and believe that, no matter our age, it’s good for the soul to nurture our inner child with wonder, creativity, curiosity and, yes, even a bit of silliness now and then.
I tend to live with gratitude and take great joy in simple pleasures – for instance, believing that if you're in good health, you're blessed with more than most and that any activity can be pure joy with right company.
